So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. – Romans 6:11 (ESV)

Have you ever had to think really hard? I can recall days where I had to think so much and problem-solve a lot at work. As a result, my head almost hurt at the end of the day. This is a little like today's verse. It tells us that we should consider ourselves dead to sin.

The idea in the verse here is that we are to think about it and determine that we are dead to sin and alive to God. That's a pretty interesting concept, isn't it? Our brains sometimes struggle with this idea of being made alive in God. And as a result, we often struggle in our minds with feelings of inferiority and shame.

However, we shouldn't do that. Instead, we should consider the work of Jesus. We should look at that and realize that we are dead to that old way of thinking and doing. We are now made alive to God. It doesn't matter who you were before Jesus. That person is dead. We should now consider ourselves alive to God.

So today, if you struggle with old habits and old ways, spend some time thinking about this verse. Decide that you are going to consider yourself dead to sin, even if you don't feel that way. Know that the good news is you are alive to God if you've accepted Jesus as your savior!
