Who We Are
We are a family of Christian believers striving to make Jesus Christ first in our lives, looking for ways to serve Him and share Him with others. Striving in everything we do to make a real difference in His world. It is around Him that our vision, values, priorities, practices and goals revolve.

Our Vision

Know Christ, Serve Christ, Share Christ

Open to All Ages, All Walks
Like a family, we are made up of many different people with a vast variety of gifts, talents and opportunities that provide something for just about everyone. At KUMC, you will find many exciting opportunities to grow your faith and your friendships. Our ministries are targeted to help you discover and serve the Lord in ways that are compatible with your personal interest and life stage, and will help you in your personal walk with Him.

All persons are welcome in the United Methodist Church. We are firmly committed to inclusiveness. We celebrate a diversity of people, ideas and cultures and are enriched by our broad history.

United Methodists trust free inquiry in matters of Christian doctrine. Our faith is guided by scripture, tradition, experience and reason. Of paramount importance is Scripture. For United Methodists, the Bible is the record of God's people living out God's promise.

Traditional Worship

Our early Sunday worship service at 9:00 AM  is traditional and consistent with conventional United Methodist customs.

Contemporary Worship
Our 11:00 AM Worship Celebration on Sunday mornings offers a fresh approach to timeless Biblical truths and principles. We seek to communicate God's teachings in ways that speak the language of our culture through music, drama, video and practical messages.

Socially Conscious
United Methodists are mission-oriented and socially conscious. This is important to our faith. We are aware of world events and strive to help those in need.
For generations, we have cooperated with other churches to spread the hope offered by Jesus Christ, to relieve suffering in our communities, alleviate injustice and foster peace. In national and interfaith groups, we reach beyond our own churches and our own communities to express concern and to share God's love with people of many faiths.
It is our mission to advocate for the worker, the sick, the poor, the orphaned, the aging, the impaired, the oppressed and the imprisoned.
Our church participates in the struggles of women, people with physical and mental impairments, and racial - and ethnic - minority persons, helping them attain equality in the church, the economy and society.
United Methodists positively influence society through responsible social action.

Connection
United Methodism took form as an organized church in this country during the revolutionary period of our history. Its structures parallel those of the United States government. Church leadership is shared by executive, legislative and judicial branches. Representative bodies carry out church functions at local, regional and church-wide levels.

A Covenant People
When you join a United Methodist congregation, you become a member of the total United Methodist connection. Members promise God and the congregation to uphold the church with their prayers, presence, gifts and service.

What We Believe
God is the Father and Creator,
(...wherever God's work is done, there is the Kingdom - therefore, we seek to know the will of God. Genesis 1:1-31)

Jesus Christ is Lord,
(...our individual relationships with the resurrected Christ are growing gifts that open the doors of Heaven. John 3:16-17, 14:6-14)

the Holy Spirit is teacher and revealer,
(...the Holy Spirit lives within us as individuals. John 14:15-21, Galatians 5:16)

the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God -- a record of man's growing understanding of God's revelation of himself to mankind, (...the Bible is revealed through our individual relationships with the Holy Spirit. Matthew 5:17-18, John 1:1)

as Christians, we are to obey the Great Commandment: Love God with all your heart, soul and mind; and love your neighbor as yourself, (...as Christians, our church belongs to Jesus Christ and will be built on knowing Him. Mark 12:30-31, Matthew 28:19-20)

It is on this foundation that we exist as a Christian family at Kendall United Methodist Church. If you would like to know more or would like to visit our church, please contact us at 305-667-0343.

"Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive."
Matthew 21:22, NRSV
